Research

My research interest is in the theory and practice of machine intelligence. In particular, I focus on two major themes

1. Algorithms: How do we develop generalizable and scalable foundation models?

2. Applications: How do we close domain gaps in real-world problems such as healthcare?

I am advised by Dr. Mathias Unberath (Johns Hopkins University) and Dr. Chenyu You (Stony Brook University).

Peer-reviewed Journal Articles

[Uncertainty Quantification in Image-based 2D/3D Registration and Its Relationship with Accuracy]. Sue Min Cho, Alexander Do, Robert Grupp, Mehran Armand, Russell Taylor, Mathias Unberath. International Journal of Computer Assisted Radiology and Surgery (IJCAR). Special Issue: Information Processing in Computer-Assisted Interventions (IPCAI) 2025.

Preprints

[Explainable AI for Collaborative Assessment of 2D/3D Registration Quality]. Sue Min Cho, Alexander Do, Russell Taylor, Mathias Unberath. arXiv preprint 2025.

Teaching

I have served as a teaching assistant for AMAT 215 Ordinary Differential Equations at University at Albany, SUNY under Dr. Rongwei Yang every Winter and Summer semesters starting from Winter 2023.

Academic service

I am a reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems (TNNLS).

Industry

[Summer 2025] I was a software development engineer intern at Amazon Web Services (AWS) working on AWS Organizations in the Seattle, Washington office.

[Summer 2026] I will be a software development engineer intern at Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a return offer received from my Summer 2025 internship.
